United Homes took $30k downpmt for a home, did not build and refused to refund

Not resolved

in 2008, my elderly parents were looking for an investment property and a realtor took them to Lauderdale Lakes, FL where there was a proposal to build units.United Homes had set up a sales office with models selling units.

My parents decided to purchase one as an investment and were required to put a down payment of 10% of $30,000. Then the company decided not to build the homes after all and have refused to refund the money to them, stating NO reason. We hired an attorney and in his correspondence with United Home's Attorney, their attorney states, "unless the money was held in escrow, there are no monies left to pay any party," and when my attorney inquired as to whether the company had filed for bankruptcy, "their attorney said there was no need to as there were no monies." United Homes is still in business.

I am looking for others so that we can join forces to file a class action.

Review about: Investment Property.

This is the property that they were going to build on the W Oakland Park Blvd & NW 36th Terrace. Now D.R. Horton is building there
